Pro Kabaddi 2025: Match Schedule, Time Table, Format, Venue, Auction & Watch Live

Kabaddi fever is once again set to grip the nation as the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2025 kicks off from 29th August 2025. Now into its 12th season, the tournament organized by Mashal Sports has become one of India’s most followed sporting spectacles, after cricket and football.

Every year, millions of fans gather in front of their televisions or at packed indoor stadiums to watch their favorite kabaddi stars in action. This season promises even more drama, with a brand-new format, thrilling changes in rules, and a competitive line-up of teams.

Season 11 champions Haryana Steelers, who lifted their maiden trophy in 2024, will be eager to defend their crown. But with the level of balance and unpredictability in PKL, every franchise has a genuine chance to stake claim for the silverware.

New Format and Rules for PKL 2025

The organisers have introduced some major changes this year to make the league more exciting and crisp. For the first time in PKL history, there will be no tied matches. If both teams finish level at the end of regulation time, a special Golden Raid will decide the winner, ensuring that every encounter produces a result.

The points system has also been simplified to make the standings easier for fans to follow. Now, a team will receive two points for a win and none for a loss. This straight-forward approach eliminates complicated bonus points and makes the league table very transparent.

The playoff structure has undergone a big revamp. Instead of only six teams making it to the knockouts, the top eight teams from the league stage will now have a chance to qualify.

Teams ranked between fifth and eighth will feature in Play-in matches, and the winners will move ahead to the eliminators. This new model makes every single league match far more crucial, as even a small slip could push a team into the danger zone.

PKL 12: Venues and Match Schedule

PKL 2025 will travel across four cities, giving fans across India the chance to witness the live kabaddi action. The opening leg begins at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Vizag from 29th August to 11th September, featuring the first 28 matches. The caravan then moves to Jaipur, where matches will be staged at the Indoor Hall of the Sawai Mansingh Stadium starting 12th September.

The third leg begins in Chennai, with the SDAT Multipurpose Indoor Stadium hosting games from 29th September. Finally, the league phase will conclude in Delhi, at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex, from 11th October. To make the final phase even more electrifying, organisers have planned triple-headers on select matchdays.

While the exact dates and venues for the playoffs, including the final, are yet to be announced, it is expected that the grand finale will be held in the last week of October 2025. This suspense only adds to the anticipation.

Auction 2025: Record-Breaking Bids

Before the season began, all eyes were on the PKL auction which took place on 31st May and 1st June in Mumbai. The two-day event saw a record spend of ₹37.90 crore, proving that kabaddi players are now commanding star value on par with cricketers.

The biggest headline grabber was Iranian all-rounder Mohammadreza Shadloui, who was bought by Gujarat Giants for a whopping ₹2.23 crore, making him the most expensive player of the season. Indian raider Devank Dalal, snapped up by Bengal Warriors for ₹2.205 crore, became the most expensive Indian player of the season. In total, 10 players crossed the ₹1 crore mark during the auction, highlighting the increasing competitiveness among franchises.

Another interesting addition this year was the Final Bid Match (FBM) rule, which allows franchises to retain a released player by matching the highest bid, thereby strengthening their squad strategies. Out of the 529 registered players, 121 were sold in the auction, setting the stage for an action-packed season.
