How Rankings Are Determined in the PKL Points Table (New Rule)

In Pro Kabaddi 2025, team rankings during the league stage are determined based on the total points earned from matches. According to the new rules in Pro Kabaddi, a team earns 2 points for a win, while no points are awarded for a loss. In case of a tie, a tiebreaker is used to decide the winner.

When two or more teams have the same number of points, their rankings on the PKL points table are determined by the score difference — that is, the difference between the total points scored and the total points conceded by each team. The team with the higher score difference is ranked above the others in the points table.

Importance of the Points Table in PKL

Under the new rules of the Pro Kabaddi League, the top 8 teams now have a chance to make it to the finals. However, the lower a team ranks on the points table, the more difficult their path to the final becomes.

For example, the 1st and 2nd placed teams will face each other in Qualifier 1, and the winner will directly advance to the final. The loser, however, will have another chance in Qualifier 2, where they will face the winner of Eliminator 3.

Eliminator 3 will feature a clash between the winners of the Mini-Qualifier and Eliminator 2. The victor of this match will be promoted to Qualifier 2 for a shot at the final.

The 3rd and 4th ranked teams on the points table will play in the Mini-Qualifier. The winner of this match advances to Eliminator 3, while the loser moves to Eliminator 2, where they will face the winner of Eliminator 1.

To earn a place in Eliminator 1, teams ranked 5th to 8th at the end of the league stage will compete in the Play-Ins. Only two of these four will progress to the playoffs, making every point on the table crucial.
