History of Netaji Indoor Stadium
The Netaji Indoor Stadium was primarily constructed in 1975 to host the World Table Tennis Championship. To successfully organize such a major international event, there was a need for a modern and spacious indoor facility.
The stadium was built by the then Government of West Bengal, with a design that could accommodate a wide range of indoor sports and large-scale events. Its architecture and engineering were tailored to meet the standards of the time, ensuring ample space for spectators and the provision of all essential amenities required for high-level sporting competitions.
