EKA Arena, formerly known as The Arena by TransStadia, is a state-of-the-art multi-purpose stadium located near Kankaria Lake in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Officially inaugurated on 7 October 2016, it was built at a cost of approximately ₹550 crore (around 82.15 million USD).
The stadium has impressive seating capacity, with 20,000 spectators in the outdoor stadium and 4,000 to 5,000 seats in the indoor arena. For football matches, it can accommodate 11,000 retractable seats and an additional 10,000 standing spectators.
The construction of EKA Arena was a public-private partnership (PPP) model, developed collaboratively by the Gujarat Government and SE TransStadia Pvt. Ltd. (led by Udit Sheth). A 37,388 square meter land near Kankaria Lake was leased to TransStadia for sports development at a nominal rent, as Sheth believed that charging market rates would not make the project commercially feasible.
